| | Description | The sound has been tested by DJs and competitors and proved as the best in the whole DJ scene. The new design shows a pair of high-quality headphones including all Ultrasone technologies. Not only the patented S-LogicTM Plus technology is standard, also the Ultra Low Emission (ULE-technology) belongs to this model. Safer hearing aspects have become very important for DJs. With its heavy duty Mylar driver the DJ1 provides powerful sound. The DJ1 is made for compact storage (transportation bag included) and one-ear-listening due to the folding-mechanism. To understand what ULE-technology does, you need to know that most headphone drivers produce low-frequency magnetic fields as they convert an electric signal into an acoustical signal you hear as music. In response, Ultrasone developed a special MU Metal shielding (ULE-technology) to reduce the radiation by up to 98% compared to current headphones. The ULE-technology has stood the test of international review and is recommended by technical surveillance organisations. Ultrasone originally developed the ULE-technology for professionals as they do spend half of their lives in headphones. But due to grand requests the ULE-technology has now been integrated in other Ultrasone headphone lines. Through S-LogicTM Natural Surround, the sound moves out of your head and into the room around you. Consequently, the music is no longer confined, but breathing once again, spacious and organic. Direction and distance are more easily perceived - it's like being at a live concert (...or in the studio). No additional equipment is necessary. So with just a pair of Ultrasones and your favorite audio device, prepare yourself for genuine 3-dimensional enjoyment. | |

You won't be disappointed Jul 16, 2007
By Altair I was a little skeptical of these headphones when I first looked at them but after reading sparkling reviews of them on a few audio sites I decided to give them a try. They came with a CD that had some sample songs on it, apparently to "test drive" the headphones with. I plugged them in, popped in the CD and took them off almost immediately I was so surprised.
It's a little disconcerting the first time you hear them, you'd swear the artist is performing in the very room you're in until you take them off. Every set of headphones I've listened to, including my friends' Bose Quietcomfort 2's and Sennheiser HD280 Pros, still sound like you're listening to headphones. By that I mean the music is coming from right next to your head and you can tell by the sound of it. With these it's closer to being in a room with a high quality surround setup, it's not perfect but it's amazingly good.
The sound quality of these is nothing short of stellar, I listened to most of the Ultrasone sample CD (not really my style of music but it still sounded amazing) then figured that they probably included the CD just to make you go "Wow!" and that they would sound more like everyday headphones with regular music. After going through various MP3's in my collection and even trying them with Pandora streaming radio they still impress.
The highs are perfect, everything is clear and sounds natural without overpowering the rest of the music. Without adjusting any EQ's on my media player the sound is very accurate and perfectly balanced. The bass is once again very tight and accurate without obstructing the rest of the music. That being said I like a little extra bass sometimes, turn up the bass on your EQ and you won't be disappointed. I'm not an audiophile and I don't have a degree in audio engineering but I love music. If I'm near anything that can play back songs I'm listening to music, I've never heard it sound better than with these Ultrasone's

HFI-580s but in black n white Jul 30, 2011
By Dsnuts These have been confirmed from Ultrasone that they are the exact same phones as the HFI-580s. Made for DJ use they have the screw on adapter and a coiled line. Good fit and become more comfy as you use em.
For the asking price these sound awesome for Bass heavy music. Bass is actually great on the cans.. I also own the HFI-780s and compared to them... The highs and the mids are a bit more in your face on the DJ1s while also adding a tad more Bass. This makes em an easy recommendation for hip hop and electronica/ Trance..I find the Bass on the DJ1s to have an authoritative punch and detail with extension even in the sub bass that does Bass heavy music justice..It is a fun can to listen to hip hop. As nothing pisses me off more than Bass that is muddy or congested. These have the right amount of big punch and definition in the over all sound signature that makes you bob your head to the tunes..I find the sound staging ample but a bit smaller than the HFi-780s and the clarity and highs are a tad better on the HFI-780s as well so therefor the price difference reflects the sound qualities accordingly.
However..Given the big bass sounds on the DJ1s the smaller sound staging actually helps balance out the cans.. So far I am very impressed with Both and will whole heartedly recommend both cans from Ultrasone.... Both are fantastic!! Trance is better on the HFI780s but the DJ1s are better for Hip hop. But that is just nit picking really as both do justice for both genres. If you listen to more than just Bass heavy music I would recommend the HFI-780 over the HFI-580/DJ1s..
Very well made and the sounds they produce are very kick ass..No need to spend hundreds on big quality sound.. Try these cans.. You will get your monies worth.. Djing or not.

OUTSTANDING!!! Feb 22, 2008

These by far are the best headphones out there. You will be impressed with the sound, the fit and the price. I'm not a DJ or someone in the music industry, I'm simply a person with an ipod and an ear for quality sound. I got a pair for my birthday last year from my wife. About 10 months later, I made the mistake of leaving them around my 6yrs old son who loves to pull on things. Now that my birthday is here again, I've decided to get myself another pair. Trust me, once you listen to your music with these, ALL other headphones just doesn't cut it. They're perfect for DVD's, Ipods and devices that support Surround Sound. My next pair WILL BE the HFI 780, I consider those to be the 'upgrade'.

BASS GODS May 15, 2011
By Omar I got my Dj1 headphones! They look really nice, and they look NOTHING like they did in the pictures. They are a lot bigger, the ear pads are a lot softer than they appear, and bigger as well. I see a lot of reviews saying the Hfi-580s are uncomfortable, quite the opposite, these are VERY comfy! ^_^ The cord is perfect length, not to long, not to short. It is sturdy, but can still fold.
After no burn in at all.
Bass: HOLY CRAP! These have tremendous bass. Without an amp they are okay, but when you plug it in to at least a E5, WHOLE NEW HEADPHONES. These thump hard, and don't mud the other parts of the song at all.
Middle: It was okay, but I liked the middle on the Shure SRH-440 better. Middle was slightly recessed.
Highs: OMG! Best highs in a head phone I've ever heard, and I've heard a lot of headphones. These are brilliant highs, low sibiliance, it truly sounds realistic.
Soundstage: Well the S-Logic definitely works. The soundstage is almost comparable to the HD-555, and sometimes even better. The instrument separation is out of this world, and the Demo CD it comes with, makes it seem like I'm not wearing headphones anymore. It beats any headphone in the world.
Tested on Xbox 360. I could hear everyone from a mile away in all directions! ^_^ I could also FEEL the bass when there were explosions. These are the last headphones I'm buying. Headphone Obsession satisfied. My perfect headphone has been found. (Tested with Turtle Beach DSS 7.1 surround Sound)

You want these. Aug 12, 2010
By Ariana L White I did a bunch of research on headphones after trying to beatmix with a pair of Behringer HDX2500's in a loud club, next to a malfunctioning subwoofer, for a night. Couldn't hear a thing with the cue all the way up that night. It sucked. Not to say that the Behringers are bad headphones. They're great for average (gaming computer ipod what have you) use.
After looking at all kinds of headphones, and using sound isolation as one key parameter that every review I read had to mention positively, I ended up with these.
The sound isolation is fabulous. I pop these on and even without anything playing through them I can't hear someone talking in the next room. In fact it will take getting used to for the club. Not least because what I'm hearing will sound so much better than what's going out through the PA.
The surround sound is amazing too- people say that no headphone will make it sound like you're listening to a room with a band in it but this is very close. John Coltrane sounds like he's playing standing next to you (without, I might add, killing you with the high notes). Ian Curtis sounds like he's risen from the grave and is spazzing out on the microphone in front of you. Most of the high-quality ambient electronica that's come out in the last 10 years will finally sound like it should. I've heard subtle details of songs that I forgot were in them, in the last 24 hours, with these, because you can't hear those details in lesser headphones. I'm in love with these and can't wait to use them in a loud setting. I have no doubt they will stand up to it.
One final thing: the clincher for me was another review comparing these to Sennheiser HD25's, in which the reviewer said that he could turn down the cue on these for less fatigue compared to the Senns. He was right- they are much easier on your ears. They're physically comfy too.
You probably don't need something like this unless you're doing audio for a bunch of people, but you might want to spoil yourself anyway.
