When I ordered this, I wasn't sure if it would be the right controller. I already have an axiom 61 and am very pleased with that. Now wanting also something smaller (25 keys) and inexpensive (and more mobile) I thought I'd stick with m-audio.
Size was very important to me. It's always hard to tell on pictures how big something actually is.. But it's smaller and more compact than I thought. The build quality is also very very good.. just like the axiom 61. I even prefer the knobs on the oxygen 25 because they turn smoothly (like on a dj mixer) and not like on the axiom where they click.
I was thinking about getting the akai pro lpk25 because that seems to be really good for mobile use. Already tried out the korg nanokey which is in my opinion a joke. Akai pro doesn't have full size keys either so I went for the oxygen 25. Of course the oxygen can't compete with the akai/korg size-wise but it's still really compact. It'll fit in a normal sized backpack, no problem.
So overall it's a great midi controller. For at home or on the go. I assume it would be pretty awesome for live use/djing as well.
One thing extra I would have liked would be one or two more faders... But you can't have everything : )

I've used this at a couple of live shows, djing using ableton. It works great! Of course more knobs and faders would be preferable (and of course you can't compare it with 2cdjs/mixer) but if you're on the go and need a small but effective keyboard this is it. Plug it in, map it with ableton and you're ready to go.
Then again I use it mainly for producing. And for that purpose it's more than perfect. For at home it's not too small and for on the go it's not too big. Highly recommend!

Works great.The keys feel great and the keyboard is easy to set up.I just plugg it into my mac,push the power button on and start up garageband and it work great.No hassel!I recommend this product!

It's tough to find a small, portable MIDI keyboard. I tried a couple of the few that are available.
The Korg Nano was too fragile and made a clacking noise.
The Akai LPK25 was nice and small but difficult to manipulate. Plus there was some sort of bug in the firmware that made certain key combinations cancel notes out. (Strange...)
So, I decided to give M-Audio a try. (I own the trigger finger and it's pretty sturdy.)
The Oxygen 25 is much bigger than it appears in the product image panel but it still fits into a large back pack.
The keys are FULL SIZE and feel pretty good.
Getting it to work with Cakewalk Sonar X1 was a bit of a chore. There is no ACT preset for the Oxygen 25. I knew this before I bought the unit. It's primary built for PRO TOOLS. But Cakewalk has pretty decent customization control surface software so I took a gamble based on the low price.
In cakewalk I chose the CAKEWALK GENERIC SURFACE template and chose OXYGEN 25 for the MIDI IN's and OUT's.
From there I was able to get Cakewalk to "learn" the control buttons for PLAY, RW, FF, RECORD and STOP.
The line up of 8 knobs on the top and remaining control buttons turned out to be really difficult to program. I gave up.
So, in real world use, the board works great as MIDI controller, a really basic transport (You can start and stop record or play), the mod and pitch wheels work fine and the keys feel really good.
I'll have to experiment a little more with it but it appears that the 1-127 sensitivity is a little choppy. I didn't detect a lot of levels using most synth modules. Soft Medium and hard is all I can detect. 'Not a micro level.
There are no Standard MIDI in and out ports. JUST USB.
Unlike the other small boards I looked at, this one has a plug for a standard Sustain Pedal. This feature was very important to me. (Note: The MPK25 has sustain but it's triggered as a button on the control panel not with a foot pedal.)
As a portable MIDI Keyboard for use with Sonar, it's bigger than I would like and I feel there's a lot of wasted real estate since most of the buttons and knobs are of no use to me.
But, it's still portable, sturdy and feels pretty good when recording.
Note: If your intent is to use this with Pro Tools, it's going to lock right up and all of the buttons and knobs are there for you.
The M-Audio AXIOM-25 is a keyboard of about the same size, has a pre-set in Sonar's ACT menu and includes little finger drum pads but costs twice as much.
On a budget, the Oxygen was the way to go for me.

I personally use mine for djing, where I have mapped all of the keys to separate functions in software. As a midi controller for that purpose it is great, you can also attach a foot pedal via input in the back to act as a shift function. The unit itself doesn't break the bank and feels quite sturdy, not cheap like a unit of this price normally would. It looks good and all of the keys are very functional and responsive. However if you're getting this to play piano, even though I don't, this probably isn't enough keys. However if you're a dj or any artist with a use for a midi controller, this unit is perfect.

I just converted from PC to Mac. I went to an Apple seminar on GarageBand. I was shown not just how to record from a guitar and microphone but all the wonderful instruments built into GarageBand. All I needed was a keyboard!
I bought the Oxygen 25 as it seemed small enough to carry around with my laptop.
Though small, the keys are full size and felt just like a larger controller but without the heft and price.
I just plugged it into my mac, turned it on, and started GarageBand.
Everything just worked. No fiddling with software, drivers, settings, switches. Just music.
The keyboards knobs and controls even work different settings in GarageBand.
The best I can say is the Oxygen 25 feels like its part of a system. Everything goes together and works right out of the box.
No phone calls, no tech support, and no hand holding.
Yes I'm sure there are some advanced features that I haven't stumbled across yet, but right now, its all about the music.
In the future I would not hesitate to get a larger M-Audio (more keys) controller but for portability I'm not parting with this one.
