| | Description | Just a few years ago there was a big difference between the home studio, the project studio, and the pro studio. As technology has become more powerful and more affordable, the quality and features that used to be available only to pro studios have become more and more accessible to everyone. Today, a computer-based recording system with one or more Delta 1010s and the right software surpasses what have been considered "pro" systems.Sound quality, performance, and superior driver technology are a few of the reasons that the Delta 1010 has established worldwide recognition as a top choice in PCI-based digital audio solutions. With its superb engineering and ultra-high quality conversion, the fidelity of the Delta 1010 surpasses systems that cost many times more. The 1010 offers the professional performance required by today's most popular software programs, and provides you with features like 24-bit 96 kHz recording, zero latency hardware monitoring and digital mixing. | |

Great Equipment with Quirks Nov 05, 2005
By John A Lee III
"jal3"
This is a superb "upper end" "sound card" for PC audio enthusiasts. It produces great sound and works well with other applications. It does, however, have a few unloveable quirks about it.
The card itself fits into a normal PCI slot in your computer but there is no way to fit all of its outputs onto the back of a PC card. For that reason, this card has a dedicated cable which leads to a rack mounted breakout box where all other connections are made. The bundled software includes an electronic patch bay which makes cabling simpler than it could otherwise be. Once installed, it works well. Getting the thing installed is more difficult. It pays to read the directions.
The driver has to be installed before the card is put in. If it is not, the diagnostics will show everything fine but you will get no sound. Also, if you should have to do a major re-install of the operating system, you need to make sure the card is out. Otherwise the driver will install and work but then disappear after a reboot.
The documentation assumes a fair level of technical competence. If you are working at learning about digital audio, the docs are likely to be above your head. The are easily understandable now but that was not the case when I started.
It's a good box.

EXCELLENT A/D.& D/A converters Aug 11, 2008
By R. Rowe I've used 2 rack mount Delta 1010's for several years with absolutely no problems running under XP. Do your home work. The real CROWNING feature of the delta's are the A/D converters. That's supported in countless professional reviews. I've used the Delta's alongside Agogee's Rosetta 800 and absolutely could not tell the difference. and yes I have very high end monitors (Adam) an other pro equipment. Delta 1010 are still a mainstay in many well know "LA" class studios. Don't be so quick to pass this unit by just becauce they don't cost an arm-and-a-leg.

Good card Oct 04, 2007
By User I have had this card for nearly a decade. It's a very good card. The support has been good, although I agree they're a little slow in releasing Vista drivers.
I have had a problem with a capacitor in the card going out --- twice now. Fortunately, I purchased the card back when they were providing a lifetime warranty, and both times they replaced it under warranty without problems.

Best card out there Apr 14, 2007

Don'y believe the other review, I've had this sound card for almost ten years and it's worked flawless, maudio makes the best sounding and reliable soundcard out there. As for no vista drivers, I don't know any pro DAWS that have vista drivers yet either (Nuendo, Sonar?) Vista sucks right now anyways, Stick to xp get this card and have years of happiness like I've had. Oh ya, I own two of these!

This has been a very reliable card Jun 23, 2007
By Edger I have had trouble with so many other sound cards for DAW recording, but this card has always been there for me. It is very clean and has never been difficult to set up through numerous computer upgrades. In fact, it is the only piece of equipment that I started with and still use. I plan to buy a second Delta 1010 for my system for more tracks. A very clean setup and very reliable.
