Windows XP users Jul 28, 2010 I bought this to use on my Windows laptop running XP. It wouldn't show up on the mixing software provided and apparently it has not been approved for XP operating system according to both the driver that came with it and the driver technical service at M-Audio sent me. All in all Mac users are probably better off using this Midi as oppose to Windows users.

Do not buy!! These carry a hidden fault that will develop! Jul 14, 2010 Ok, this is my second MAudio keyboard that has broken. After my first MAudio, I decided to upgrade to the very good looking Axiom 25, it was great for 6 months until it developed what is known as 'the blue screen of death'.
Have a look on the MAudio forums, type in 'blue screen of death' and you will see pages and pages of comments, hundreds of unhappy customers worldwide. Now this in itself would be unfortunate however, even though the product is under warranty, it is next to impossible to get anyone at MAudio to take any ownership and actually get this repaired or replaced, I have been trying for two days and have got nowhere. It appears that I will have to pay for postage from the other side of the world to send it to AVID in Canada who can take up to a month to repair the item, and by all accounts, have been known to send back defective items at the senders cost. Basically, the keyboard is stuffed and I can't get a replacement.
DO NOT BUY THIS KEYBOARD, I never review anything but felt that I should share my experiences so others don't get burned. This keyboard has not left my studio, is in mint condition, but they are all susceptible to the same chipboard fault.
MAudio - never again.

Very strong product May 26, 2010 I have been using the Axiom 25 for 5 months now. Overall, I like the product but I do have some issues. I use this product connected to a PC running Reason 4.0. I am in the process of hooking this up to my MPC 1000 for easier show performance (more on that later).
The Pros:
I must say the construction of the Axiom is amazing. I am not easy on equipment. I drag this thing out to play shows and to band mates houses and it very durable. The thing feels solid as a rock and weighs almost nothing.
The keys feel really nice and are very wide. I don't like semi-weighted keys but that is personal preference. The LCD screen is bright and very easy to work with in the dark. When using the knobs or pads at the top it gives you a numerical rating so you know where you are. However, I will talk about the knobs and pads in the con section.
Overall, this thing plays better than I imagined. Feels much better than any other product I have used in this price range.
The Cons:
I don't like the knobs on the top. When you turn them it clicks. It reminds me of the board game Life spinner. They are not at all smooth and there is something like 64 clicks to make one rotation (never counted). It makes doing quick adjustments in Reason very difficult to impossible. At least in reason I have to make a full two rotations before I reach 0 or 127 (max).
The pads seem like a good idea but they don't work for me. The pads are actually sliders. Since you press on them they go from 0 to 127, based on velocity. However, unlike a slider, it changes back to 0 when released. In reason it makes the product useless. I though this would sync or work well for drumming, it doesn't. I am a drummer more so than a keyboardist, there are much better products to do it better.
The Nice to haves:
It would be nice if it came with the required power supply to plug in. It was clearly designed for the basement studio, but I don't always want to run everything off of USB. My MPC 1000 for example. Or if I want to connect this to a real synthesizer. I will need to the power cable separate. Most people won't ever need this but it would be nice to have.
Overall:
It is a really good product and I see this lasting for years. It has its problems but I think it is the best product in this price range. I would not be afraid to take this out on stage.
Absolutely worth the price May 17, 2010 I use it with Logic Express. There is no extra installation step required. I just plugged in to a usb port. It worked perfectly. (Even though, I had to manually configure the some buttons and knobs in order for Logic Express to detect the input signals.) So far there's no problem!
kick ass midi controller May 13, 2010 cheap, reliable.loaded with cool features works well with ProTools, Reason, Fruity Loops, and other DAW's.
