Fairly silent preamp... Better than expected. May 04, 2010 It's preamps are quite a bit more silent than many ~300$ firewire interfaces' micpreamps. I bought and returnt a Firebox, then a Audiofire4 because of that. Now using this connected to line input of a MBP for condenser mics. Much less noise!
Perfect performance for a great price Dec 27, 2009 Absolutely what I expected after reading the reviews. No frills, but great low-noise pre-amp for home recording. Using this to home record with a Shure 57 mic with absolutely no problems. I agree w/ the previous reviewer that the knobs aren't quite as discrete as you'd hope for, but for the price this pre really performs. I really appreciated the previous reviews as they pushed me over the edge on this particular unit.

Makes my Microphone SING! Oct 11, 2009 ...ok, not really. I still have to do that. BUT, it did mike my computer recordings from a quality mike WAY better. For the price, this is an amazingly high quality preamp with good features.

Smooth as an egg Aug 13, 2008 I have done simple home recording for both singing and guitar. Over the years I have struggled to get recordings that weren't full of static in the background. After I bought this sweet little device I haven't had a problem with static. It's great for the artist on a budget. For what it is, the M-Audio Audio Buddy was worth every penny. Some may be turned off by the lack of USB connections, but for those of us who have limited usb connection on our computers and only really need one mic input, it's perfect. I however never paid more than 50 dollars for mine over a year ago. I would suggest buying yours locally, I did.

Audio Buddy Sep 22, 2007 I bought my Audio Buddy as a companion to my Korg M-1 1 bit recorder and Behringer C2 matched pair microphones. I wanted a complete field recording outfir that would fit in an attache case including the recorder, preamp, mics and cables and the Audio Buddy'd dmall size seems to be a perfect fit. Having balanced in and out jacks, makes it a perfect match for the Korg M-1.
