Solid brass capsule with evaporated gold diaphragm
Cardioid pattern for clarity and minimal feedback
Description
The Aries is a professional condenser microphone designed specifically to capture live vocals with the highest quality. While condenser microphones offer much better responsiveness than dynamic mics, they are usually confined to the studio because their sonic sensitivity is accompanied by handling sensitivity. Now M-Audio?s proprietary internal shock-mounting technology allows the Aries to deliver studio fidelity while minimizing handling noise and standing up to the rigors of the road. The cardioid capsule with 6-micron evaporated gold diaphragm and integral pop filter also rejects background sound for clarity and minimal feedback while handling the high SPLs of concert situations. Why settle for the average sonic quality of a dynamic on stage when you can have the superior quality of a condenser?

Great sound for the price Jan 12, 2008
By Steven McGowan Here is a mic I picked up for my sister. I spent a week playing around with it in my home studio and have to say its been great.
Nice clear quality at all ranges - I sing mainly pop/folk and recorded a few 'speaking' tracks to test out my radio voice! I really cant find anything wrong for the sound at this price range.
I wouldn't use this mic without a proper pop filter though. I always have one attached to my mic stand and if you are belting out a vocal and you are up, close and personal with the mic then you need one.

M Audio Aries Mic Apr 12, 2010
By L. Trahan I have been searching for a good vocal mic for a while that gives the bottom and top of the vocal range it's due. I used a battery pre amped EV for a long time to boost my vocal levels as I am not a loud singer withiout losing some pitch control or that horrendous feed back squeel. I toyed with different mic's, the shure 58 and 57 and others but could never find that mic that fit my voice. Just brousing the other day looking for another studio recording mic and I ran across the Aries M Audio mic. You know how it is when you think you have found that golden egg and finally the search is over. I read the specs of the mic and naturally it had everything I could ask for. The boost and clairity of a recording mic without the feedback and obvious leakage of the band instruments through it. Yeah I ordered it! Got it today and wanted to give a little feedback on it. I mounted it and ran it through a mic pre amp and checked levels. I noticed a slight low 100 to 150z hum in my yamaha monitors.Reduced volume and it went away. After a little toying with the EQ I seem to have found the sweet spot. The hi's are not screechy hi but adequate. Tonight the band practices and I will pay close attention to any unwanted seepage from band instruments. Just playing with my guitar I noticed a good hi EQ level without any feedback. As far as I can tell It seems to be a decent mic with good manners in the hi range.
