Pretty Good but crashes.. Nov 12, 2010
By Synth-head I worked with E-mu before I replaced my 1212pci card... I have to say it would be better if the PatchBay system had a smart program to avoid the loop that causes it to crash..
When I purchased the 1212m I was pretty sure I would get a very host of recording programs to work with.. but the Bundled DVD that E-mu had promised..well It was blank.. a blank DVD, I e-mailed the E-mu staff to have a replacement, all I got returned was an email saying I need to contact the retailer.. It was pre programmed response.
They no longer put an USA number on the box either.
The card works well.. the drivers seem fine and I fell short for receiving a good set of recording software...almost satisfied.

EMU 1212m first version (PCI) Sep 04, 2010
By Jing Garcia i've been using the first PCI version of this model for several years now, and they work really great for the price - making pro out of a digital audio workstation semi-pro setup at home. since only few pro sound card makers are coming out with PCI-e format, i'm glad that EMU came to their senses in coming up with one. it's about time.
Quality Sound Aug 15, 2011
By Dufus First, just make sure you have two empty slot openings next to each other or you might have difficulty because of the connecting cable. That said, this card combo rocks and gives a quiet, solid performance. You won't be disappointed.

I.ve been using the 0404 for years and when I upgraded my rig I decided to upgrade my sound card to the 0404's big brother the patch-mix bay is the same as the 0404 however the sound quality is markedly better highs are clear and distinct lows are tighter and pronounced the learning curve for the emu cards are at first a bit daunting however the flexibility of having so many effects that don't suck up cpu power is nice the compressor is a great feature for recording vocals and guitars
Reborn Mar 24, 2011
By jechev I have the PCI version which I bought when it sold for $199. I used it a lot with my old Windows XP/2 computer but frequently had issues with Patchmix and ASIO drivers. About a year ago I bought a new Dell Studio XPS computer but when I first installed the EMU 1212 cards, the old drivers would not work and it looked like they did not intend to release any Windows 7 drivers, so I gave up. I tried replacing my EMU cards with an Alesis io/2 Express but soon I became frustrated with it due to a constant background noise it produced, even recorded tracks were invaded by this annoying high pitch noise which was more noticeable when low level parts were played. I soon realized I made a mistake thinking the Alesis module would be a good replacement for the EMU 1212 and then about a couple of months ago I decided to do some research and found out there were new drivers available from EMU for Windows 7/64. I reinstalled the cards, got the drivers, as well as a new version of Patchmix and now I am having the time of my life. Low latency, clean transparent sound, the whole nine yards. I am really glad I decided to hold on to this card and not sell it on ebay as I intended to do. It is like having a new audio card or rather a born-again card.
