Reconsider your purchase Jun 17, 2010 I made the mistake of buying one of these. Somehow the name fooled me and I didn't realize it was made by Creative as I've sworn never to buy another device from them. In this case my resolution was right. I made the mistake of downloading and installing the new drivers and firmware and the unit immediately quit working, now neither Windows or Mac will recognize it. Guess I'll try to get them to RMA the unit, wish I could get my cash back. Also, it took them 3 years to write a driver for this unit that would work under Vista/Win7 and after 4 years they now have a "beta" driver for Macs, so don't expect any continued support for the unit.
Decent sound card May 21, 2010 Like others, I primarily bought this box to use for amateur radio purposes, that is to run a panadapter program with my Orion II radio. It performs as expected for a low end (price wise) unit. I made the mistake of trying to upload the newer drivers. This caused the unit to crash and cease to operate. My negative view is not with the unit, but the seller (through Amazon). CompSource charged shipping and handling initally as expected. When I called to return the defective unit, they refused to pay for the return postage. It took almost three weeks and two phone calls to get a refund (less all shipping and handling fees)! I had to buy the second unit in advance in order to have one in a reasonable period of time. I was of course charged shipping and handling again. When I called and asked to be credited for the initial shipping plus what it cost me to ship the defective unit back, they flat refused. DO NOT BUY FROM COMPSOURCE IF YOU WANT FAIR SERVICE!! I am afraid now to attempt to upload the new drivers as it may crash this unit as well and I will be out another $20.00!
Works Great, DON'T UPDATE FIRMWARE May 17, 2010 Works great, sounds like heaven. Just install the software from the CD. I tried downloading the new software from the website, which automatically tried updating the firmware. I did not need the functionality of the new firmware, and it bricked my unit. RMAd with no issue, and the replacement unit works and sounds as good as the first. Just missed it the few days it was away.
Don't update the firmware unless you really need whatever the new version fixes. There is no way for you to reset the firmware if the update goes badly.
Performance ok for me but have hardware issues with it May 04, 2010 I bought this unit to use with my amateur radio hobby. I use it as an external audio card for getting the I and Q audio signals into the computer for use with software defined radios. It works fine electrically for this purpose.
However, I have a real mechanical issue with the product. I plugged a standard mono phono connector into the center of the "L - Hi-Z / Line / Mic Input" input as indicated on page 14 of the manual.
The manual says:
"Use the 1/4¨ in the center of the XLR jack as a Hi-Z input for guitar/bass, or as a line level input."
As I indicated earlier this works fine electrically, but now I want to plug an XLR plug into this jack and I can not get the 1/4" phono plug out of the jack. I have pulled very hard and am afraid I will damage the unit if I pull any harder on it.
I have contacted product support twice about this and asked for a recommended way to resolve this. At first I thought I must have missed the response so I sent another request. It is now clear to me that I am being ignored! I never expected this treatment from Creative. Very disappointed with customer service.

EMU 0202 USB 2.0 Audio Interface and Windows7 Mar 08, 2010 I bought a brandnew Laptop (Acer Aspire)and wanted to use this interface for some homerecording. I could not get it to work with Windows 7. There are no drivers available. I finally had to return it. Instead I bought Presonus Audiobox. Drivers are offered on the supprt page Windows 7 64 bit. It works fine. I had no trouble at all!
