Twice Defective. No more! Jul 24, 2010 Ordered this twice and both times I was sent a defective mic that couldn't be detected by my Macbook. Amazon's return policy is great of course, but I am greatly disappointed by Blue.
Windows 7 Jul 22, 2010 Well like several other reviews mine didn't work out of the box. It also appears that bluemic has no support for this product. I tried this in Windows 7 and Vista and it showed up as unknown/unsupported USB device with no support. It's a shame because the price would be right if it worked even a little bit.

Goooooooood Luck Jul 17, 2010 Purchased this because of the good reviews. Have used Blue Mikes in the past and so I thought I'd try the USB version for home recording. It looked good out of the box and was solid, seemed well built as I expected. However, I tried to hook it up to both my laptop which runs Win Vista and then to my desktop which runs Win 7. Neither would even acknowledge the mike when plugged in.
I searched and searched the internet and found a review on a competitors site that mentions that the early models of these were sent out with the inner circuit boards disconnected. It recommended that you try unscrewing the screen top and checking out the circuit boards inside. I looked in and that obviously seemed to be the problem. One of the circuit boards was not connected to anything. It was easy to connect it to the 3-prong connector, so I tried that and then plugged it in. This time both computers acknowledged that it was plugged in but got the error that the device was not compatible with Windows.
So off I went to check for a fix or driver to download. Everything I found said that no drivers were necessary and the faq on the Blue website gave no information. However, I did notice several bad reviews of people having the same problem I had on other sites. It seems that it is a gamble to buy this from a distributor because apparently the early stock sent out is known to malfunction. It is unfortunate that Blue hasn't done something to correct this. I would not recommend that you buy this unless you know that the distributor has a hold of the later models. The one I received from Amazon was not. On a positive note however, Amazon's return process is quick and easy. But why gamble?

Microphone did not work Jul 14, 2010 I was disappointed that the Microphone did not work. I called the manufacturer and they asked me to mail it to them for a replacement. Unfortunately I had to pay for shipping.

Two DOA Units - Off to try a different brand Jun 23, 2010 Order this mic to do voice over work for video production for my company. Tried both mics on a Mac, MacBook Pro, and a PC but all failed to recognized it. There is no power LED on the mic to indicate if it's even powering on. Called Blue and after going through the basic troubleshooting, the representative indicated that I had a defective unit and to send it back to them.
In retrospect, the tone and manor in which she said it made it sound like this is a frequent occurrence. Since we couldn't wait, we ordered another through Amazon and returned the first defective unit. We got the replacement today and it too was DOA. It would seem that quality control is lacking or simply that the build quality is sub-par.
Note to Blue Micorphones, you have limited chances to make an impression on your customers and two failed attempts has caused this customer to seek out a different brand.
