A Nice Set Nov 28, 2009

To everyone interested in the CX5 monitors please read on...I also happen to own a pair of BX5A Deluxe monitors and am quite pleased with the overall sound quality that they deliver. I had them set up in a room that is 11' X 17'. However my particular arrangement dictated that I have my editing workstation placed against the longer wall. As you all know, optimally the workstation would be placed facing the shorter wall to allow the sound to breathe and reduce reflections, giving the editor/mixer/listener false aural reads from the monitors. This is where the CX5's come in. They are placed in the identical spot that the BX's were and now it's like I virtually placed my workstation along the aforementioned shorter wall. This is due in part to the customization switches on the back of the CX's... they do work. All this translates to a richer, fuller, deeper, soundstage. Yes it's true... if you read the M-Audio product literature on these. More importantly this gives you the sometimes elusive accuracy that you may have been looking for. These monitors sound absolutely clear as a bell, giving you a realism as if you were there... wherever the source was recorded. Sometimes ya just know when it's right. This is one of those times. Again, for the money... the BX5a Deluxe monitors are good... real good. The CX5's are a few steps up, that puts them with the "big boys". Subjectively, you all know who they are. If your room is acoustically challenged the CX5's will truly help you with that battle. If your room is already "right", then be prepared for something that is satisfyingly more. Oh, and they are aesthetically pleasing to the eye, and extremely well built. So there you have it ... beauty, brawn, brains and very articulate... a rare combination not easily accomplished... nice go'n M-Audio.
