I've been looking for a way to begin a small professional audio studio and only use state-of-the-art equipment that would make the work flow professional, efficient, easy, and profitable. While there are logs of direct to digital interfaces and software out there the hardware and software combination of Digidesign's 003 Rack+ Factory has allowed me to get to work quickly and accomplish all four of my goals. While there is a learning curve to ProTools software (if you haven't used it before) the flexibility of this package is a small studio's dream come true. From drive specific file and folder assignments to elastic time functions it is a great package in a small box - It even has all the right connectors!Digidesign Digi 003 Rack+ Factory

Big Step up From The Digi 002 Jan 25, 2011

Pros: I Was about to buy a Digi 003 Console, but then I saw the price for this I said "a $1000 more for a big mouse, no way".... I got this as a step up from the digi 002... what's not to love about this... 8 XLR, 8 1/4", MIDI, AUX, free iLock.
Cons: The bad thing is if you have windows 7 the installation disc is garbage it does not work (blue screen of death)
NOTE! this does work with windows 7 you just have to download the free update ProTools 8.04 from the avid website. The nice thing is all your plug ins are in the iLock, so all you need to do is plug and play.
Other Thoughts: Cross upgrade to Pro Tools 9 is discounted, but still in the $300 - $400 range, not worth upgrading at the moment.
