I Recorded An Album Through This.....Great Product! Oct 16, 2010
By benisme As soon as i connected the firepod to my I-Mac, Logic Studio instantly recognised it and i was recording within minutes. Never had any latency, or pops or clicks while recording any instruments, actually i have never had any problems with the Firepod whatsoever. The best home recording device i have ever used, and i have used many. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!

These are pretty good Nov 03, 2010
By Makxs I have had one of these for the past 2 years now and I've NEVER had a problem with it besides my own user error (forgetting to turn it on...) I just ordered my second one so I can daisy chain them together and get 16 inputs. I have done a few albums with the one, but it was difficult recording a full drumset with only 8 mics but if the drumset is only 5 pieces it's perfectly fine. Having a second will allow me to add multiple mics on the kick drum and snare drum and to mic more toms if they are there. These things are pretty sturdy in my opinion though I've kept mine in it's original packaging with the foam and all the entire time and just got a rack to put it in with the other so it's never just been out on it's own for long periods of time.
Overall I'm very happy with this purchase, it's good quality pre's and gives you 8 of them along with 2 instrument ins and 8 line ins depending on how you use it. For the price you can't go wrong. Was an instant setup for me on my Mac and in Logic Pro, but seeing how it can work with such a wide variety of software and on both PC and MAC, you can't go wrong for the money on this.

Check Compatibility before buying - 5 Stars for Customer Service Return Process Sep 15, 2010
By Reader My friends and I pooled together some money to purchase recording equipment, including a laptop and an interface. After doing some research, we went with the presonus. Needless to say, when it arrived we were extremely excited to get it up and running.
Unfortunately, it turned out that the Presonus' firewire was not compatible with my friend's laptop. His laptop has a firewire port (4 pin). The presonus is 6 pin. We contacted the company, and they mentioned that it *should* work if we get an adapater. We bought the adapter (6 to 4 pin firewire adapter), but unfortunately, it still did not work. The laptop (Win 7) detected the interface, but it just would not work in terms of picking up instruments. We could not complete the set-up process.
After some research online, we saw other folks had similar problems. It appears to be that some laptops have a firewire chipset that is not compatible with the presonus. (Wish i could give a more tech-y answer, but i'm already pushing my bounds).
That being said, we called the company, and they were EXREMELY helpful regarding the return process. The packaging from Amazon came with a return slip. YOu call, they give you a return #, you write it on the slip, stick it on the box, and ship it back. They even went as far as suggesting picking up insurance (which we did).
I got my refund to my credit card within 2 weeks.
SO - unfortunately i can't give you a review on the product itself, but I was very pleased with the customer service and their help, albeit it was frustrating that the interface didn't work as expected. For now, we're going to look into getting a USB interface (a safer choice, although we may be giving up some performance).
Summary:
- Check compatibility thoroughly - i would suggest joining a forum and see what laptops others are actually using, so you can make sure you pick up one that works
- 5 stars for customer service return process
Firepod does its job Apr 12, 2011
By R. Cornett This product is meant to turn analog signals into digital, and it does just that. My computer (iMac, 4GB ram, 4 ghz duo) may slow down playing back 30+ tracks, but I never have any issues with the firepod. The hardware and cables have held up after years of use. A previous reviewer commented about the firewire cables breaking--mine, which came with the firepod, is still functioning wonderfully.
