 Audio Technica AT2020 USB - Solid product, Good price Mar 03, 2010
I recently purchased this USB microphone to use mainly for voiceovers on video and audio projects. While I wasn't looking to spend a lot, I also didn't want to spend too little and end up with a poor sounding mic. After weeks of reading reviews I decided on the Audio Technica unit. I have used their products before in my industry of television production so I had an expectation of quality from the start. Out of the box...I was pleased to see it ships with a little stand, USB cable and a soft case to protect your equipment when not in use or travel. The little stand works well on a desktop set-up but it's probably a bit too low for everyday professional use. At some point I will mount the AT2020 on an arm for use.
Ok.....stands and cables aside....what about the sound ? This simple plug and play mic sounds 10x ( or more ) better than the standard 'built-in' in computer mic (if using a laptop) or those cheap plastic 'web-mics' but that's no surprise. The AT2020 has a warm tone that picks up the midrange voice as well as the lows producing a full pleasing sound. It's pickup pattern tends to discard most background noise and gives you a clean vocal recording. Of course....pains should taken to create a quiet recording environment.
For the price...I am more than happy with this microphone that sounds and feels like it will last a while. I'm no audio engineer but I know what sounds good. Results will vary based on what software one uses....but I am happy with my recordings.

I use this for video training over Skype and it makes a huge difference. Much better sound than from the webcam mic.

I have been doing a Live weekly podcast interviewing Webcomic Authors and Artists on a podcast called: TGT Webcomics.[...], I have been in this business for almost two years now and was using Logitech, & Platronics headsets and mics. Great products, but my sound wasn't that great.
I researched long and hard and found that Audio Technica has been THE BEST purchase I have ever made, and with Amazon, fast shipping I was truly impressed. I immediately did a review on my show about how awesome this microphone is. My guests are saying I sound night and day compared to my previous 86 shows.

I've never owned anything beyond a standard PC USB microphone, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I can honestly say, however, that this microphone sounds amazing. My voice comes through crystal clear with no distortion. Awesome!
